Starting with Notes 7, secure links are handled in a way that helps ensure the sites that your client connects to, are ones that you trust. Via your mail file's "Tools - Preferences" settings, Lotus Notes allows you to automatically append a signature file to mail messages you send. You can choose from plain text, or HMTL (one of the languages that web pages use). When you choose Text, you enter the information (your name, address, phone number, etc) right on the screen. When you choose "HTML" you select the file from your computer. HTML signature files are "fancier" as they allow you to use different fonts, colours, images, web sites links, etc. The problem is, most users don't know how to code an HTML file. To assist in the creation of the HTML file, my IBM colleague Rocky Oliver has created a great tool called Signature Block Wizard... « Alan Lepofsky » |

I've been fascinated by the asychronous approach to page updates for a long time. At Workflow Designs TopGun classes in the late 90s, similar techniques were taught using a hidden iFrame "backchannel conduit" approach that Steve DeVoll discovered. With the widespread adoption of the XMLHttpRequest object in browsers, and the coining of the AJAX term, these techniques are really becoming prime-time... « Lance Spellman » |

One of the things which has bugged me for a long time is getting a good name picker. We have been using a servlet on our Domino server for a long time which looks at views in the NAB and allows the user to select individual names to be added to a document in a web browser. Alas the servlet is showing its age and with the advent of AJAX it is about time that we came up with something better... « Matt White » |

There's a simple fix to adjust the size of the input field, and you don't even need to use any CSS to change the size... « Breaking Par » |
